“We found that in death notification data, the trend in gunshot-related injury deaths – irrespective of intent – was consistent with the findings of other studies” the group said.

I wonder why they don't break it down with intent? Why can't we see how many criminals are now not being killed in the process of an armed robbery.

WTF
It talks about 2000 to 2009 stats went down then says it got worse.

So it's clearly not working.

1900 SAPS guns stolen between 2014 and 2015 I mean WTF

Also there are two different sets of laws at the moment hence the court case coming in September.

Issued guns are not the problem it's illegal guns and even more so it's the fking people with those illegal guns.

We need harsher punishment for gun related crimes.

We also need with every gun out there to have a shell and a fired round on file as well as the DNA of the owner on file, apart from the finger and palm prints.

Useless article IMO

"Data from the United Nations and the Small Arms Survey, South Africa has the 12th highest rate of gun-deaths in the world, with a rate of 17.03 per 100,000 people."
Uhm, so does this exclude all the incidents with AK47s, R1s, R5s? So less people are killed, but more crime happens because guns are used as a threat. I know of a case where someone wasn't shot, was hit with the stock and died afterwards of his injuries? So those stats are meaningless. Is there stats where guns were involved in crime vs no guns?(knives etc)
