South Africa’s most popular mobile phones from 1994 to 2014

The Nokia E71 remains one of the phones I have the fondest memories of. That thing was a solid well built machine. But the phone that really seems missing for me is the Nokia 6210 (or even 6310).

Had a 3310, U700, BB9710?, iPhone 4S & iPhone 5S

1-2 out of that list vs my total 5.. Guess I go my own way

Nokia 909???

How does the "staff writer" think an ETACS (analogue) phone was a favourite handset on a digital GSM network?

I don't remember there ever being a digital version of the Nokia 909. The Nokia 1610 was probably the closest in looks.

Both business phones that wouldn't fall within a "most popular" list in South Africa.

I had a query about that myself. The 1610 was a rugged unit that became a popular hand me down.

I also had the Samsung E250 - A very competent device for it's time,

Yesteryear's phone battery life.... and then today's phone battery life...

// cool article :)

The legends 5110 & 3310. I remember going for days without charging

Wow! That was like a trip down memory lane!

So it all started with the E-250 . . . smooth slide and so compact. I loved that phone :love:

Ericsson GH688 was a revolution as far as size and weight goes for its day , was my second phone.
At least that phone did not pull my pants down when i clipped it on to my belt . :D

BTW they all came with belt clips in those days .
