How is a brand valuable? It's a brand FFS, not a product.

Water is valuable, because you need it to survive. Woolworths is not "valuable". It's an outlet.

Brands do have value, as they have reputation that can be used to sell a product. People will be more likely to pay a slight premium to buy something from WW as there is more of a guarantee, than to buy the same thing from a no name brand where you can't be sure it's any good.

Nvidia has taken that to the next level, they could probably release a potato and market it as the next big thing in gaming and get away with it, same with Apple.

Lol didn't have business economics at school? There's a zillion brands that are valuable. Heck just the Nike swoosh logo or McDonald's arches are valuable. Not to mention Apple...

Brand recognition is even included as part of goodwill on a business balance sheet you chop.
