South Africa: BlackBerry vs iPhone vs Android

Another article about the same thing, Its obvious why BB does so well, especially the " free" internet it provides to a certain point with the mobile internet pricing so high its the obvious choice for a lot of people.

Make that 100,001 for android once my contract on Blackberry is done...

Oh look, its this thread again xD

You dont even need stats to know that blackberry was top of the pile, then ios and then android devices.

Free internet, working wonders for blackberry in SA.

The numbers in the developed world tell a slight different story though, and in the long term would indicate different findings to that of Goldstuck

Theres indeed quite alot of crapberries around, especially among the younger generation. Everyone wants one for the messenger and 'free' internet which costs actually R60per month?

It's amazing that a single app (WhatsApp) made Blackberries redundant overnight.

R.I.P RIM

no surpises here. Especially comming from vodacom. Can you even get a iphone from them without paying in R150,000 while having to subscribe on a talk 10000 contract for 35 years?

Less cost internet

+1

People would rather have unlimited internet from a berry than to spend R289 for a gig on a other smart phone

Yea I think WhatsApp needs to be figured into those projected growth figures for the BB. Why should all your "friends" get a blackberry if they can just download a "free" App, only got WhatsApp last week, but it is a damm good App and it works on multiple platforms! The BB everyone has is pretty weak, hardware wise, not even GPS... And the better spec'd ones are to expensive and you can get much better phones for that price. I will be skipping the BB Fad, thanks :)

My iphone 4 was free with MTN R379 2 year contract.

no such thing as free phone on a contract... its already worked in to your monthly premium...

end of the day a phone is a phone... and people will take the package that gives most value for their money
that why the are so many blackberries... because they offer the best value.. when it comes to messaging and internet...
