The policy also calls for the appointment of a broadband council to allow more cadres to get on the gravy train.

So there's a goal. Now all they need is a plan to reach the goal. Will this broadband work from my government supplied shack? Will I be able to use it while I drive in a government approved taxi on a government tolled road?

South Africa Connect: the new broadband policy

A new National Broadband Policy and Strategy for South Africa has been published in the Government Gazette
The objectives and aims of this National Broadband Policy are good . I just hope they get the right people with experience on board to turn this in to action and not just talk , there is also a lot of naivety and inexperience in that document.

We haven't heard anything about a nominations or selections process for the Broadband Council nor is there clarity on how this revision of the Broadband Policy affects the ICT Policy Review. The document is significantly better than the draft (which I sent the following scathing inputs on:
