I agree with JK8 - South Africa also has a very average team, no Pollocks or Donalds. The Aussies should be safe with this one.

Yeah we do miss the fighters :(

But we have heaps and heaps of talent, AB, Smith(don't like him,but he is good), Steyn, Morkel, Kallis, Boucher, Prince etc etc. All the guy just need to be on form against the Aussies and I am sure they will have a good chance to win one or two tests :D

I think the best opportunity to do it is now.. could start a good amount of momentum going into the Twenty20 Wc and then 50ov Wc particularly if its an even series or SA win. Also this time round Sa has newish players that will likely feature for a while.

In tests Aus has always been good because if you leave a good team in the field/pitch long enough they make you pay even when things go wrong. They just seem more consistant and responsible when needed(usually), unlike our side where guys all either perform well or older players all fail(and look like they give up) and everything is left upto newer players

Smith is good and he does well against Aus, but they know him and how SA plays, the first test will be our best chance to beat them and maybe get some momentum, if we lose the first match, Proteas wont pick themselves up and push harder...

Steyn is good, but if theres to much relying on him, he's gonna injure himself or just perform badly.
I hope Amla does well!:)

I agree the first test will be our best shot at winning one :)

I just hope Morkel has sorted out his bowling problem, the aussies show no mercy, just ask Steyn :(

Biffy's average is 22 and a bit against OZ - lets see if he can improve on that.

Something to take into account all of these stats of our boys was against an aus side including the fat one. Its going to be interesting to see how much of a difference not facing him will make.

Just the name OZ scares the sh|t out of SA.

Well hopefully now with a younger team and a couple of other factors like Smith being more mature etc etc we will throw off that stigma of the Aussies are unbeatable :)

Smiths arrogance hampers his potential especially against Aus...
Notice how only 2 teams can put up a fight against Aus, Sri Lanka and India, both their captains are true gentleman of the game, that gives them the edge.
That rugby player mentality of psyching yourself up wont help.

We tend to fight back once we're 2 - 0 down in the 3 test series.

Some players need arrogance to succeed. Take Warne and Pieterson as examples.

Also India gave Aus a real go with Ganguly as captain. Are you going to tell me Saurav was a true gentleman??:D

That self belief/arragance is a big part of the game. You mentioned Peterson, i admire the way he plays cricket, his self belief... you can see it.

+1 I like someone that takes the game to the enemy :D

I miss the gritty players like Symcox and fanie and big Mac.

As an individual yes it works, im a cricket player and any type of sport, my arrogance helps me be as good as I am. Ps never play Foozball with me!:p Pieterson and Warne are specialists not leaders, Pietersons not having a good run as an arrogant captain is he?

But as a captain, nope you need to have a clear mind, lead your team well!
In the cricket world Aus has the physcological advantage, regardless of the talent in Aus, they have this winning spirit that keeps them where they are, one of the most consistent teams in world sport.

Ganguly example was just pure luck!:p

The Ganguly one had more to do with Laxman and the Turbanator than anyone else.
