Severe solar storm hits South Africa

South Africa experienced a G4/Severe geomagnetic storm on Friday morning, the South Africa National Space Agency (Sansa) has reported.

This comes after it warned that an Earth-directed coronal mass ejection (CME) was expected to impact the planet late on Thursday, 10 October 2024.

Also, this was NOT just South Africa - it was worldwide. These geomagnetic things don't single out South Africa or go "Hey bra, there's ANC country, let's home in on that"

When I woke up this morning my home network was behaving very strangely. I had to reboot all 3 of my Unifi access points and all 4 of my switches before everything would come back up online again. Could this have been the reason?

My outage started at about 5:30am this morning judging from the log files from my devices. I would think though that a magnetic storm wouldn't affect the night-side of the Earth.

The last major one like this damaged a lot of their transformers apparently.
So we might see loadshedding soon

No, it's caused by a Solar flare. Nothing to do with climate change, which is a scam.
