You should add "all things being equal". But all things are not equal. Lots of things have changed, changing the dynamics and the interactions between all sorts of parameters.

This is a game of new experiences for every wave so far.
Of course it is. Science means things change as new data becomes available. We can only act on the data we have available. As far as I'm aware that data is as I've stated.

Remember the context here. I'm responding to the statement that this thing doesn't reduce transmission. As far as I'm aware the current evidence disagrees.

Maybe media were at fault here too?
Not maybe, definitely at fault -- MSM screwed up in a big way, promising the world that the vaccines would make the bad man go away -----

Meanwhile, the bad man was just changing his camouflage.

Watched any of the almost endless "family meetings on local TV?" Oh, I forget, you guys don't watch local TV -- to see what the politicians are dishing out to the cannon fodder out there.

Yea I don't care what those muppets have to say. I stopped watching the family meetings early 2020. At best I'll read the summary the day after for how lockdown is changing.

People shouldn't be getting their medical advice from ignorant politicians.

Those are unfortunately the realities of SA at the moment.

The vaccine role out is slowing down terribly.

Not a shortage, or a lack of people - so something else is driving it ---

1. Normal SA apathy and complacency stepping in?
2. The election fever?
3. A backlash protest of some sort?

Either way, bad news.

Why is it bad news. Most people especially the poor already had Covid and therefore have natural immunity.

As long as those that's at risk have the opportunity to go get vaccinated, then there is no longer any problems.

We can definitely get back to the old normal now that vaccines are available.

Government hospitals are always going to be shít. It's run by the ANC.

And if people don't get vaccinated that is on them.

The problem is a lack of people. Lack of people because of hesitancy driven by irrational beliefs.

I assume it's that those who want to get vaccinated have largely already done so.

It stimulates immunological memory in order to facilitate better immune response to the actual pathogen. that's pretty much the definition of a vaccine. What else would you have them call it?... a racoon?
Is it a vaccine in the same way that MMR is a vaccine?

Yes. They both stimulate the immune system to create immunological memory. That's what a vaccine is.

They're not the same technology. The MMR vaccine is attenuated (a weakened version of the pathogen) while most of these COVID vaccines are mRNA vaccines (your cells produce the antigen and express it to the external environment). Both involve the same underlying principle. They expose your immune system to antigens present on the pathogen without exposing you to the pathogen itself. As a result your immune system develops a "memory" of how to handle the pathogen. They are obviously both vaccines.

Perhaps you should explain what you think a vaccine is? I find this discussion totally potty.

Good luck convincing people who live in "super-spreader" circumstances every day, some who have been working the grocery and grocery supply chains from day 1, to get vaccinated "for their health".

Many of those same people have been waking up at 4am to queue for healthcare for the past 27 years.

Remember when it was going to "hit the townships"

What is worrying you? The data being measured or why are there still cases being found despite the high vaccination rates?

It seems like a decent move to me. Get the population vaxxed up and get on with life.

Would you say the Covid vaccine is more like the Flu vaccine/jab?

Ah hindsight. The beautiful, beautiful preserve of smart arses everywhere.
The opening of the arena with dead bodies in the street being collected by people in Hazmat suites did not help with this apocalypse of 99.97% survival rate.
