Maths Literacy and 30% pass rate causing a skills crisis

For South Africa to become competitive in a global technology economy, major intervention is needed in the country's basic education system.

"Teaching our kids Maths Literacy and allowing them to pass at 30% doesn't help drive the agenda of digital and economic inclusion," says Busi Mavuso, CEO of Business Leadership South Africa.

I didn't do well at school.id never be a doctor or anything super amazing.but I can add value with what I do. Some people out there I don't even know how they get through life. Either very lucky or very ignorant of how stupid they are.
I still wonder where all those smart people from school went

Gov is cutting Funding to the Dept of Edu by 35% soon in WC. They also putting a hiring freeze on contract educators as well.

It's like these dom ***** have KFC mash and gravy for brains.

DUH

When all they are interested in how many passed and not the standard of education.
This is what happens.

Just reminded me of something. I interned in the IT dept of a FET college years back.
This college had a big room booked and students ready to write some exam ,when some big knobs from the education dept arrived to use the room they never booked. They had the students move to another venue.Had me setup their projector and laptops for them for some nonsense meeting.

Made the college organize huge platters of food and everything for these fat useless idiots, getting the staff to jump at their beck and call.made a huge mess and left it like a pigstye all while upsetting the exam venue for probably absolute nonsense.

It felt like we were used to just feed them like some power play ego trip and for all we know they were watching movies.

But we have an 80% pass mark? How could this be?

You get the government you vote for. Let that be a lesson to all citizens who keep voting ANC.
There are (at least) 4 ways to look good:
  1. Easy (and useless) subjects anyone can do with their eyes half closed
  2. Low pass mark requirement
  3. Filter out anybody that won't pass before they reach grade 12
  4. Easy exam papers where anyone that puts in a little effort can get a distinction
Profit!

Bold of you to assume that the ANC voting citizens of South Africa can learn any lessons other than hand outs and blame apartheid.
