I doubt it is the South African government spying on its citizens. This government is in so much chaos, I highly doubt anyone would even know what to make of or do with all the intercepted data or communications. My bigger question is, who is actually watching us?

When they learn what to do with it or interpret it, then I'll worry.

Given the way the ANC runs things, this is quite possibly just a party tool.

The software to do that is not too far off in the future, if it doesn't already exist. Don't know about the hardware required for speech recognition of thousands of simultaneous conversations, but it's probably feasible.

The type of surveillance the op refers to was already set out in 2008 following the Matthews Commission. It's a good reminder though.

They don't have money to go to the toilet, yet they spend a fortune on data collection, that they do not have the ability to properly utilize. Eish!!

Or are we seeing another self enrichment scheme ...

Collect the data, and sell it to the Chinese, then the Americans, then who ever ...

There are provisions in RICA to prosecute illegal interceptions , they must prosecute the perpetrators of this crime and get finished .
Until people are persecuted for criminal activities shyt like this will carry on .

What?

Pay for Zondo commission, to run another 20 years, and no usefulness or value added for the effort.
