Saving the South African Post Office

The Department of Communications and Digital Technologies (DCDT) is considering partly privatising the South African Post Office (Sapo) to modernise its operations and increase its competitiveness.

Minister Solly Malatsi says the department has asked the National Treasury for support in forming a task team to "pursue private financial and operational partners" for the Post Office.

Geez, these guys are in serious denial. There is nothing to save. They're not trying to rescue a sinking ship, they're trying to rescue a ship that sunk years ago and is lying in pieces on the ocean floor rusting away.
Rule #2 of the ANC: Keep it going, even just for show, to stick it to the colonialists and the white man

I remember when the same was said of...well all the failing SOEs.

This is the process to grab more money and it's going to work marvellously. Look at SAA!

If you read between the lines there is only 1 reason they want to save SAPO and that is to save the jobs of SAPO employees. That's literally all the SAPO is now, a bloated corpse of an organization that's sole reason for existence is to keep the people who work for it employed at the taxpayer's expense.

I thought the ANC didn't care about the wekkas that much.

Is there any real news here? "Considering", "pursuing", and "planning" is political speak. Similar to Trump's "Concepts of a plan".

I listened to the CapeTalk interview, the previous MyBroadband interview, and a few others with Solly Malatsi and have not heard him provide any real answers in any of them. This was probably to be expected, but the DA chose the definition of a career politician for this position. Contrast his performance with Leon Schreiber's, whom I feel generally refers to actual figures or some form of documented action plan and has achieved some outcomes already.

They don't really, but they do care about unions' support come election time.

Yep. And like the traditional leaders, the unions tell their peasants who to vote for. Of course, certain ANC cadres on here will deny that happens.

Of course they'll deny it... but our good friend especially has been very quiet... @TheChamp where you at? Your ANC needs defending.. hurry up
