If you really wanted to reduce road accidents, reduce road traffic.
Fix the railways then remove trucks from the road between 6am - 6pm
Enforce pedestrian crossings
Fix public transport, Taxi's should have stricter rules and work on a cashless system. Your taxi is clearly a piece of C*ap, detstroyed. Caught breaking the law, impounded and drivers license taken away, caught again without a license, jail.

Decreasing the speed limit will have no effect on road deaths, NONE because speed isn't the issue that needs fixing, it's just a symptom

I say raise the speed limit on certain sections of the highway (the long stretches between towns) to 140km/h and get people off the roads faster. Increased fuel usage, increased income for government. Win win.

If our national roads had islands in them the whole distance, sure. With our current set uo no. Head on collisions are bad enough at 120.

Tell the government that 100km/h cars use like 30 percent less fuel per km than at 120.
This equates to a 30 percent drop in fuel fund revenues.

That will change their mind...

The greater the volume of traffic on the roads, the greater the odds of unexpected and unintentional events (accidents) occurring.
Decreasing speeds wont change that.

Metered taxis must be lobbying for this, as nobody else stands to gain (besides speed cameras)
