South Africa is the most dangerous country in the world to drive in

That's potentially true I'll give you that. The infrastructure's so buggered, and the traffic laws so non-existent, that people possibly can't do excessive speeds or they would pretty much immediately die.

Pedestrians over there also seem to have an innate understanding that if they fsck around they're going to just get run over without mercy.

Unfortunately we'll likely never know because their data is so very very unreliable.

Hahahahaha, my late mom stood in the middle of the road crying. An Egyptian took her hand and helped her across

you want terror? you really want terror,

try driving in Jakarta, or Haiti or somewhere that is equally poor and a Sh1th0le.
many many places I can name that are sh1th0les some 100 times worse than SA,

imagine driving in Afghanistan, Kabul and NOT in a Humvee. or Iraq, Bagdad
much much worse traffic conditions there.

Quite sad, the bar that SA is being held to now ...

still better than MOST of Africa,
I mean we have Freeways and overpasses, they have dirt paths that are loosely considered roads.

they have police every 200 Meters, while we have police hiding anywhere they cant be seen easily.
sure eventually after the big Civil war that is brewing, SA will turn into that,
but right now, were still better than most of Africa.

Haiti must be absolutely terrifying. I can't even imagine.

Not only are their no road rules, there's barely any roads and there's active shootings all over the place.

Haiti makes South Africa look like Switzerland, Total Chaos and anarchy, was quite terrifying

was watching a Docu yesterday where people are in Jail with no trials for Years in maximum overcrowding because the Islands government NEVER keeps court documents on PC's or computers, and has Zero organization, not even alphabetical. things are done with pen and paper and just tossed into a folder with Zero organization. makes the SA Firearms Application room look like a Model of efficiency.

and driving there, or getting around, roads, what roads? more like dirt paths, arbitrarily shut down when the gangs feel like making money
not to mention any form of law and order, like a hellscape where laws and rules mean nothing.

watching that showed me while SA is Bad, it isnt Haiti levels of bad (yet)

Really curious. Is Haiti that stunning to make all this risk worthwhile ?

Depends if what you after is RIch and Beautiful land, but Dirt poor people
makes South Africa look well run in comparison
From what I've seen in documentaries it's an ecological paradise... but it's basically just one giant unending gang war.

Couldn't pay me enough to go there. At least not without a serious armed escort.

poorest Country in the western hemisphere, whats interesting is right next door, the DR is a LOT Lot better
still bad roads, but not the hellscape of port au prince.

I still confuzzled by this 57.5% alcohol related road traffic deaths stat.

I would like to know how they get to this number.
Any driver of a taxi, truck, or bus is drunk and then crashes killing a sht load of people. Every death involved then counts a drunk-driving fatality.

SA is only unsafe if you drive like an idiot and don't pay attention. If you die in a car accident it is 90% your fault

but most South Africans are "really" ar5ehole drivers - i encounter too many imbecelic morons who "paid" for their drivers license instead of earning it fairly - and almost every South African driver likes to drive too fast and the cnuts are proud of that

while those drunk driving stats are probably inaccurate - there definitely are reckless drivers on SA roads and SA drivers are nowhere near as good as they think because most of them do not try to drive safely but instead they all drive like wannabe Jeremy Clarksons .... not realising that Clarkson and the Stig are driving irresponsibly on an empty race track and not on a public road so IMHO the average South African drives like a bellend w(anchor)

No they just assume alcohol was involved when it was in the car without any evidence that the driver was drunk in those reports.

If you die and they find a 2 week old empty beer can under your seat that the car wash missed they will record it as drunk driving death.
