South Africa looking at international space partnerships

South Africa remains committed to fostering the peaceful use of the outer space environment, says Trade and Industry Deputy Minister Bulelani Magwanishe.

Delivering the country statement at the UNISPACE+50 High-Level Segment of the 61st session of the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPOUS) on Wednesday, Magwanishe said South Africa is committed to ensuring the long-term sustainability of outer-space activities.

Instead of these partnerships can we rather more urgently look at partnerships to fix Eskom?

8 years ago a South African company wanted to build their own rocket.
MarCom Aerospace had the funding and the skillset to do it. All they wanted was Goverment-approval.
By now the Cheetah Series would have dominated the Small Launcher segment.

Instead - they have been struggling to survive with small research contracts.
New Zealand's RocketLab has now taken the market they were going for.

Too little - too late.

Stories of rockets and Africa always make me think of Wrex Tarr and his story of sending a man to the moon...

We don't even have a functional government nor sustainable fuel or power.
