South Africa Removes Nuclear Opponent From Regulatory Board

South African Energy Minister Gwede Mantashe fired community representative Peter Becker from the board of the National Nuclear Regulator, citing a conflict of interest.

The NNR is directly accountable to parliament through the Minister of Energy on nuclear and radiation safety issues and operates independently of Government, to the extent that it is able to carry out its mandate without undue influence.

Here's my take. Gwede knows how to benefit from coal, they have been doing it for years.
They have also figured out now how to benefit from nuclear, via the Russains. He is just moving the pawns around.

They are yet to figure out how to benefit from renewable, hence the reluctance and delay..
