South Africa still facing major driver licence backlog: JPSA

South African motorists may be fined for driving with expired driving licence cards, even where the Driving Licence Card Authority (DLCA) has been unable to provide the driving licence card after a proper application was made by the motorist.

So, do away with drivers license cards then. Force the police or traffic official to get on his radio and do a check on the drivers' identity number with their control center. Easy.

Of course, back in the day you did not hear of police or traffic officers pulling you over and asking for proof of purchase of your vehicle to see if it was stolen. They just got on their radios and checked the license plate. They can do the same here and stop the flow of corruption in this country.
