2/3 for you.

The next digit (C) shows if you're an SA citizen status with 0 denoting that you were born a SA citizen and 1 denoting that you're a permanent resident.

The last digit (Z) is a checksum digit – used to check that the number sequence is accurate using a set formula called the Luhn algorithm.

Actually 1/3. There is no way C could be a 6 and A a 0.

explain rationale to give full marks please?
His ID has gender identifier as 6, 0 indicates a citizen and 7 is checksum. These I assume are digits on his ID.

He did not give the last 3 digits but what he supplied isn't wrong either.

He answered 607, where the question was the last three digits of his ID.

Maybe it really is in his ID. ;)

It is really great you guys are so interested in my ID number. Somewhat flattering.

I am an SA citizen because my father was born in SA, and his father before him. I was born in Zimbabwe, so, I am a Zimbabwean. However, I am also a South African.

I guess you guys who have little to no knowledge about how the world works do not understand that possibility.

Hey: let me blow your mind - I am also a British citizen. I have three passports, and two ID docs (the UK doesn't do ID docs).

That must hurt your brain, Sollie. Dont think about it so hard, I dont want to be responsible for your poor work quality later today.

They also don’t have a constitution.

I don't blame anyone for wanting a better life.
If you are starving in your country, and another country has better opportunities, would you not want to go to that country?

However, having said that, exactly where do you draw the line.

"My arguments against this person are now valid based on their ID number. Take that libtards."

2/3 for you.

From https ://www.westerncape.gov.za/general-publication/decoding-your-south-african-id-number-0

A South African ID number is a 13-digit number which is defined by the following format: YYMMDDSSSSCAZ.

The first 6 digits (YYMMDD) are based on your date of birth. 20 February 1992 is displayed as 920220.

The next 4 digits (SSSS) are used to define your gender. Females are assigned numbers in the range 0000-4999 and males from 5000-9999.

The next digit (C) shows if you're an SA citizen status with 0 denoting that you were born a SA citizen and 1 denoting that you're a permanent resident.

The last digit (Z) is a checksum digit – used to check that the number sequence is accurate using a set formula called the Luhn algorithm.

The graphic below details the different sections of an ID number, based on the fictitious sequence 9202204720082

Second last digit was used in the past to indicate race. Now we are all 8s

Lol..my dad was an engineer....SA didnt really have too many...Gencor brought us out back in 1985...
Ive not left the country since then!

I've never actually wanted to leave....However with the economy tanking, no sign of any recovery and being robbed numerous times (so far nothing violent but the clock is ticking), I suppose sooner or later this will be my reality one of these days....

We're all people at the end of the day with complex family histories and situations. Everyone, regardless of who they are, is just trying to survive.

A lot of people fled to SA to avoid wars in their own countries, and many more are leaving to flee the effects that war and bad governments had.

It's natural for people to seek out the best for themselves.

I used to be a lot more sympathetic to immigrants until I got a closer look at the financials of a top ex model C school in SA. There are two categories of immigrants that are at the school. Those with permanent residency, and those without. The ones with permanent residency are some of the best payers in the school. They tend to keep up with their school fees, and there are no issues. Those here illegally or without paperwork to even get into the school have to prove they can first pay the school fees as they do not qualify for the exemptions process. They then commit in writing at home affairs to pay school fees before getting accepted. They are the category that is the worst of all parent categories in the entire school at paying. Currently we have about a 50% non payment rate among them. One guy from the armpit of Africa owes the school a hefty amount of money, and has never paid a cent despite pulling up in a nice car each year, and working as a pastor here in SA.

So like I said, I used to be sympathetic, now I wish most of them would go home as the impact on our schools finances is tremendous. Almost all our expenses are non-negotiable so for every parent that does not pay we tend to have to overcharge other parents a bit so these guys are no different than thieves as far as I am concerned. There are free schools they could go to but they want the better schools but just don't want to pay. No different to dining and dashing.

Rant over.

For sure...we wound up here as my dad couldn't work in the UK with the stupid miners strike...And they had just bought a house....We wound up with the bank taking the house back, having nothing (parents were bagging horse **** to sell to rose farms) and my dad basically saying fk this, lets go where there is a job...(And look at the mines now....well done unions....!)

Ironically my dad always wanted to go back even though he did alright here...
I never did.
But it seems oneday I may have too....

Such a badly written article.

Spoke to our Zimbabwean domestic and gave her some stuff to look into in order to renew her work permit. Apparently they are being told by DHASA to wait until they get sent the link.

I simply told her not to trust government at all and go ahead and get this done. They can get kicked out the country and fined if they don't have a work permit, and then we, as employers, can get heavily fined for employing an illegal worker.

Best you get your foreign employees sorted out ASAP!

Possibly in other unlawful activities as well. Church is often a front and money laundering vehicle.

Surprise surprise. Illegals don't pay their bills? Could have told you that would happen. And a pastor nogal? When I hear the words, "Trust me, I'm a Christian", - I run.

He may have misunderstood the question but info he provided is valid.

There is absolutely no way any South African ID can have 607 as the last three digits. The 7 yes. The 6 and 0 - No.

Yes. Read his post again.

6 - gender identifier
0 - citizen
7 - checksum

From this, you can tell the last 3 digits are 087
