We did break the 14 million shot barrier though.


I think if we can get to roughly 30 million doses (not people!) before the 'expected' 4th wave, we should be in a good place in terms of a decrease in hospitalisations and deaths. Will require an increase in the current pace of vaccinations, though. Likely to be at +- 25 million on the current trajectory.

Sounds about right. Combined with the natural immunity of people that already had it (including tons of oblivious ones with asymptomatic cases) , I'm optimistically hoping a 4th wave can just be a little blip. For my own sanity I need beaches to be open this December.

3rd wave was a small blip in Cape Town township. Due to natural immunity. This 3rd wave was powered by a huge surge in Gauteng, due to Gauteng having a smaller 2nd wave. 4th wave, if it even happens, should be mild regardless of vaccinations. That is, if we don't have a panic about "cases" as if that means anything.
