Take a bow, Kyle Abbott. Take a bow, Kagiso Rabada. Take a bow, Faf du Plessis and the entire South Africa squad. A month ago, this team arrived in Australia without its captain and best batsman, AB de Villiers, who is at home injured. They lost their best bowler, Dale Steyn, to a serious injury barely a day into the campaign. And yet they have not only beaten Australia in the series, they have crushed them. Humiliated them.

The recent victories without AB almost makes me think his time is up(certainly as captain). I don't think guys coming back from injuries should just have an automatic place in the team purely based on reputation.

Wow, what a great way to start our morning! an innings and 80 runs :D

From what I've read online - our bowling this morning was relentless. Philander bowled maiden after maiden. Smith took 11 overs to get a run and the line and channels were all excellent. A truly wonderful performance without Steyn and AB.

I was 50 runs in favour of Aussies losing but well done to the lads and a great find in Abbott as a replacement for Steyn.
This is probably one of their worst defeats on home soil.

NZ not the only place thats been shaken up.

Fabulous result. Woke up this morning expecting to see them maybe 4 down and level with us. Was certainly NOT expecting to see an innings victory by 80 runs. Excellent performances all round!

Now to wrap it up in Adelaide.

Watched the highlights this morning and that certainly gave the impression that the boys were creating heaps of pressure on the aussie batsmen, it must have been awesome to watch it as it played out. In the end, the pressure and quality bowing took its toll. Prime example being how KG got Smith. Worked him over with some short stuff, he also didn't score for something like 11 overs, and just kept at him, with no release, and eventually got him to nick off...wonderful stuff.

Abbott got MOM but if I may, I think Temba and Quinny gave us the chance to win it, from a precarious position as it was at the time.
Well played to all of them.
On a side note, how good has FAF's captaincy been? First class.
I don't think AB is captain material, and problem for me has been who else do they select as the skipper, but FAF is doing a wonderful job at the moment.

I hope Mitchell Johnson was watching... LOL!!!

I went to bed at 7pm last night.

I had an alarm set to claim for gyms in pokemon go at 1:35 this morning.
I claimed my gyms, and looked to see the score, the day just started.

I desided to get up have a smoke and a cup of tea to help with the flu I have.

an hour and a half later I was in bed.

two cups of tea, two smokes, and 8 wickets. brilliant morning.

the score card, and the raw numbers do not really tell the story of Philander.
its not just the maidens. he was unlucky to not get any wickets. his line, length, pace and agression was something that cannot be explained.

I am happy Abbot was man of the match, but I would have been happy for KG or Philander to have been given the award, all of them were a step above the Ausie bowlers.

Do we feel sorry for the Aussies ?

Hell no !!!

Credit has to be given to a poor Aussie Team ,that do not know that a test match lasts 5 days....

Not fair to drop any of the existing incumbents unless you do something interesting like convert AB into an opener

I feel Bavuma could open. But he personally wouldn't want what happened to van Zyl to happen to him too

Nothing like that. I think we won't see him playing again because of his recent book and attitude towards management.

I think his current injury is a sham.

JP can make way for AB. However we do need a better opener. CooK hasn't done well. Maybe AB for JP and Russouw for Cook.

Ah well, we've shown that we can do well without him - pity that his career would therefore end on a somewhat sour note

in the current test team, there is only 1 place for AB, and that is cutting JP. and I am a big fan of JP, and we do need the part time bowler.

the other option is cutting Cook and moving Amala to open.

I think the ideal team would be 4 seamers, one part time spinner (JP) and 6 dedicated batsmen.

so:
1) Elgar
2) Amala
3) AB
4) JP (he performs best at number 4, just leave him there...)
5) Faf
6) QDK
7) Bavuma
8) Philander
9) Morkel
10) Abbot(or stein if he ever plays again, but maybe not...)
11) RAbada

but we like Cook, and want him to stay, that means cutting JP, and removing a seamer for a spinner.
