Oh hell no... If India can still handle manual voting for a Billion people, then we really have no excuse.

GSM network connectivity
Wow, really keeping up with the Jones/Trumps aren't we?

By the time that SA gets "the devices" there won't be any 2G networks left in SA.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA *breathes* HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAAH

After the ridiculous display that is busy going on in the US, that gets held up as an example, and worst we know by several breaches of security that our glorious leaders don't consider cyber security a priority....

If ever there was voter fraud, I'm calling it on these machines before they even get rolled out.....

Can they perhaps organise some over priced tenders and some envelopes under the table, followed by an acquisition of many devices that can't be used, and the end result is everyone voting like we usually do?

I wonder who will get the tendah, then "misappropriate" the funds and not being able to deliver the new voting machines this time

They won't use this to slaughter the opposition voters at all.

These include procuring new voter ID scanning devices for use during registration and voting, as well as the testing of electronic voting booths.

A few things I learnt over the last few weeks:

1. The gold standard for electronic voting booths is to have a printed paper audit trail that the electronic record can be audited against - this is what saved the election in the US, where manual counting involved checking the paper audit and verifying it against the electronic records.
You can try blaming the machines, but printed audit trails will stand up to any inspection.

2. Voter registration should be automatic - as it is in many countries.
Manual / voter complex registration is a method to disenfranchise the public.

3. Trump says he won as a scam to ask for donations for legal defense. The donation are "diverted" for other uses.

4. Have live HiRes cameras stream the counting process - this helps to verify the process

Dunno why y'all are debating the technicalities and efficiency and wisdom of this. It's simply money grubbing whores stealing. More tenders more money.

Strange how keen they are to roll this out vs digital migration, set top boxes, spectrum, services etc.
Its almost like they know there's a big score for them in it..
