Temu, Shein and Banggood bring in items directly so the items spend a minimal time in local storage and so their costs are lower. The cost of doing business in a high crime, highly corrupt country are high.

You can't compare limited "Flash price" specials with normal pricing. My understanding is that the Temu price also doesn't include VAT, duties and other taxes, which would also result in increases.
People should also be careful about taking Temu's current pricing as final pricing, as my understanding is that it's sinking billions of US$ to build market share. If this is correct then once it decides that it now needs to make a profit, pricing might not be as attractive as it currently is. It'll likely still be cheaper than Takealot (just based on volumes of scale) but the difference won't be what people are currently seeing
