A defiant President Mugabe scorned the growing international clamour for him to step down, insisting yesterday that “Zimbabwe is mine” even as his regime struggled to contain a devastating cholera epidemic that has brought his already ravaged nation to the brink.

Mr Mugabe delivered the broadside, which included renewed attacks on Britain, before the party faithful at the annual conference of Zanu PF. “I will never, never sell my country. I will never, never, never, never surrender,” he said, referring to calls from the West and other African nations for him to resign.

Straight from a Churchill speech.

If there's one thing that I still need to see before I can say that I had a full and happy life then it would be to see this scumbag being executed by a mob and hung from a tree in the streets of Harare, just like they did to Mussolini in '45.

Alas, chances are that he'll die peacefully in his bed after spending his last decade living in the lap of luxury in Indonesia or China.

The SA envoy to the UN Security council said they (UNSC) can **** because the wanted sanctions on Zim! He politely said they are two faced because they turn a blind eye on the US on Guantanamo while critisizing SA on our Zim policy! Eish!

Luckily SA's stint in the UN security council will come to and end very soon. I read somewhere that the British are just waiting for SA to p*ss off before turning up the heat on Zim in the Security Council.

Britain or America, should recolonize Zimbabwe and get rid of Mugabe.

I think that they have their hands full with Iraq, Afganistan. Imagine if they had to invade Zimbabwe. They would be crucified by the media and a host of leaders from around the world.

The same goes for SA sending in troops. IMO, in todays current political climate one cannot just go and invade another country.

The reason why SA isn't acting against Mugabe is ... CHINA. China's got a very strong hold on both the ANC leadership and Mugabe.

It just strikes me how powerless everybody is.

All of them are "calling" on Mugabe to step down - but we all know he won't. In the meantime, no-one has the balls to do anything concrete (yes, I know invasion is a screwed up method, but is there anything else left, apart from assassination) - and no-one will do anything because everyone is afraid of being critisized.

I don't see even China sitting still for this much - unless they were planning for things to deteriorate so badly that they could make a cash offer and buy the place.

 Hmmm ... that makes for an interesting conspiracy theory ...

You mean you can't invade unless you are the US!

Unless the UN orders it i doubt SA will send troops. btw I was thinking about this the last week-end, how much did we, SA, gain from Zimbabwe going down the tubes? Yes i know our crime levels have risen, welfare, immigrants etc too BUT investment for southern africa has been basically focused on SA in the last decade.

While the current level of mayhem needs to be sorted urgently, in someways we benefiting quite a bit
