Big trouble for flight prices in South Africa

South Africa's aviation industry is struggling to retain talent in two key areas — piloting and air navigation control — which could ultimately result in much higher local flight ticket prices.

Trade union Solidarity recently warned it was entering salary negotiations with FlySafair — South Africa's biggest domestic carrier — with the aim of limiting an exodus of the airline's skilled personnel.

smacks of arrogance if you ask me!!

If FlySafair’s pilots are not satisfied with the airline’s offer, they have a fairly easy pathway to employment in other countries.

FAFO - you might not have an airline service if they all left!

try replace a high air time experienced pilot with a low air time inexperienced pilot and see what can happen

I have a few mates, who looked at other international options, back when they started getting the run-around,
Needless to say, they have "flown" ( ) the coop, and could not be happier.
You just cannot compare working for a serious overseas company, versus working in this almighty and Godforsaken shithole.

South Africa's descent into dustbowl status is accelerating rapidly under the ANC. The DA has added nothing to the mix with departments like home affairs being as useless as ever and getting an ID taking months. This slip is generalized across all industries and will only get worse.
