South African banks hit by massive DDoS attack

The South African Banking Risk Information Centre (SABRIC) announced that the South African banking industry has been hit by a wave of ransom-driven DDoS attacks targeting consumer-facing services.

DDoS attacks have become a major problem for South African companies lately, especially Internet service providers (ISPs) and local banks.

Not so sure nothing was compromised. Unauthorized login on my account earlier this week and only saved by required OTP.

Seeing this type of a security thing is rather getting worse than better over and above all the promises of total security, is it really a responsible thing to do away with bank branches and ATM's, I just cannot see putting all your eggs in this digital basket, just do not make sense.
The digital world are telling us something for years now, and I think it should not be ignored.

Serious question:

If the bank systems are DDoS'd, this means the attackers are aware of their internal network, in regards to ip addresses etc.
Am I correct or not?

Shouldn't some ip cloaking technique or encrypted cloaked forwarding be active on these systems?

Seriously. Does visiting my internet banking give me access to the banks internal systems? It just doesn't make sense to me.
