Electric car sales surge in South Africa

Electric vehicle (EV) sales started with a bang in 2023, with 232 units sold in the first quarter of the year — nearly half the number sold in the whole of 2022.

This is according to the latest sales figures published in the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa's (Naamsa) quarterly review for Q1 2023.

I'm seriously considering an electric next. I just haven't actually test-drive one yet.

TopAuto and DailyInvestor and all these rags accociated with MyBB are low class. They are why journalists should go hungry.

Ad block everywhere FTW.
@Bliksis I have a much simpler solution - just don't visit them or read their articles. In fact, block them from opening in your browser.

I am not sure why you continue to read their articles if they are low-class and add no value. Don't stand for it. Stop visiting them to ensure their traffic drops.

A better solution would be to take pride in the quality of articles we are being spammed with.

I have driven a Toyota Auris X, that was pretty great but it's not quite the same as an EV. It helps that it has an 1800cc motor :D

Solar will offset that footprint on the second picture. I wouldn't mind a small EV for commuting to work.

I would charge it in the day when working from home, and charge it at work when I'm in the office (the office also has a big solar plant).
Solar without batteries is fine. But the manufacutring of batteries are way worse to the environment than coal or petrol (my opinion). But people just jump onto the bandwagon with their EVs. make me think of the vegan craze.
