SA consumers have been running out of money before the end of the month for a long time... Nothing new. I know this because I hit the pawn shops mid-month to score bargains.

Salaries have been shrinking for quite sometime. You have some companies that offer salary increases that do not beat inflation.

I do think one should never, ever run out of money before the next remuneration date. There should always be money left to save, invest and pay down debts (if applicable). But hey, people want to be driving around in the latest Audi, or be seen with SMEG appliances in their flats, or rocking Gucci bags, or texting away on the latest iPhone. It still shocks me now and then when we hear cases of medical doctors not having medical aid when they get into an emergency. That, and other 'professionals'.

It happens sometimes...
I don't have medical aid and I had an injury this month... so what do I do... I spend the money, get better, and live off of 2 minute noodles until payday, move on.

Oh and yes... I had to pay for a lot of schitt this month... generator installation because of masepoes Eskom
