Graves are cheaper and largely carbon neutral. Running crematoriums 24/7 is really expensive and creates a massive bottleneck.

On Reddit a mortician estimated that they could do sixteen adult corpses a day at full speed, and without building more ovens that is all they can do if they want to keep the ashes separate.
Yup, that is the problem, keeping the ashes separate. It puts a cap on the maximum production rate. Of course, if you are cynical, then you would ask the question: "Do the crematoriums bother now already? "
My lack of faith in the integrity of Society in SA tells me that we living in a fools imaginary paradise anyway.

The government confirmed on Thursday that co-operative governance and traditional affairs minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma and trade and industry minister Ebrahim Patel will address a news briefing on the regulations from 2pm.
A ministerial justice, crime prevention and security cluster briefing, “on security-related matters for Covid-19 level 3 restrictions”, is scheduled for 5pm.

These delays in test results are causing all sorts of stupid reports such as the one's today.
"The largest spike on record for cases in one day". BS! There is no evidence because there is NO sign that the govt logs are updating the daily counts according to the date when the test was taken. There is some evidence to suggest that this is happening in WC, but nowhere else.

Next, is the way in which the news writers prepare news reports. Certainly, the eNCA and SABC news writers have NO clue as to the difference between the accumulated values and the rates at which infections are accumulating.
The reports this morning on BOTH news sources are littered with examples where the accumulated values are referred to as the "Infection rate" and vice versa.

The SABC this morning was scathing in its comments on this report. The presenters on Morning Live had a discussion in which they changed the report to say "apparently" and stated that they would believe it when they see it happening at 14:00.

You know this, I know this, a few people on here know this, but the vast majority don't. It's the same reason why the recoveries take so long to show, as they run 2 to 3 tests.

Probably, and they'll wait 23 days between those. No wonder recoveries come in big amounts.

I don't think the recoveries are all tested, as far as I know, it's an autogenerated stat from cases 2 weeks ago - deaths.

We should have had a FAQ on this forum, but the terminology is so complex that nobody would understand it...

You mean like the differences between Mortality rate and CFR type thing? I did try earlier on, but everyone kept harping on about the mortality rate of this was high. Yet when I tried working it out using the Diamond Princess as a base I was guffawed at.

Yes, and it got really messy when we found that 75% of cases are asymptomatic. I made a shortlist yesterday, the number of terms is mind-blowing. As noted in the Atlantic article that I quoted, nobody on earth understands the full complexity of this pandemic.

Do true, that's why the most ignorant always shout the loudest, making their viewpoint the most prevalent.

What is the chance that we will not have to listen to an hours worth of NDZ BS before getting to the important things?
