News24 says: "Dlamini-Zuma clarifies that yes, domestic workers are allowed to go back to work. Mthembu adds that they also need to adhere to all the measures laid out, in terms of social distancing, masks and sanitisers. "

But still only with private transport?

Judging by how many questions our local DA Councillor is having to field on the subject of domestic workers, many are very very confused about just about everything related to domestic workers.

someone asked ...
The ban on evictions from rented homes would fall away under the new regulations, the minister said, for the reason that rental income was recognised as a vital source of income. However, the process had to be sanctioned by a court as fair.

If rental income is recognised as a vital source of income, why isn't (lost) employment income recognised as just as valid? Class system now taking precedence under the grabbamint?

Seems to be from here;
Thanks. I don't know who to believe, IOL or the actual level 3 document which states it is not allowed. I am trying to assist a family who were told to vacate the rental property as they have been unable to afford the rent the past month due to lockdown regulations.

They did not stipulate private transport.

People really want domestics from hotspots to be in their homes ?

Lets not be too specific. Elderly domestics (or those with hypertension) could equally be at risk from their younger employers. Both need to be careful, particularly if public transport is involved.

Indeed, it's a wrong move for either party.

This is very frustrating. My neighbour is having braai's and parties. People are hanging out on the streets withouts masks and just chilling . But here I am trying to obey the law and not visit my mom. What a sick son am I ?
Meh, lockdown ended weeks ago...
