so wtf is it with the WC? it's not population density, so is it just a testing artefact?
That's exactly my feeling with Kzn. Knowing how people here behave, I just cannot bring myself to trust those numbers.

Apparently it lives longer on surfaces in cold humid climates, the WC is that. Gauteng is dry in winter and KZN is warm and not as humid.

Yup we get locked down for this, but the 4000+ TB deaths a month nothing, or the 6000 aids related deaths, or the 1700 murders.

And the biggest killer of them all does not even get a mention - not even on a good day. SUGAR anyone??

Edit: which interestingly would be the most effective way of combating covid deaths in the long run, due to the comorbities that are actually caused by sugar in the first place

Oh ffs sugar isn't a killer, nice try. Diabetes and obesity aren't only linked to sugar, it's a high GI food stuff, so we need to get rid of bread, pap and cooked potatoes.
Yup - I should have said simple carbs instead of sugar.
Interestingly enough when eating carbs in their raw form (potatoes, fruit etc), all the fiber etc that comes along with it stops one over-eating. (try eating 12 oranges in one sitting VS drinking processed orange juice).

Basically stop eating junk and eating all the time in general and your diabetes will take care of itself.

Edit: there is always a misconception that eating healthy is expensive and is difficult to do in poorer areas. Not true as when price of big Mac or chips ps converted to kg (don't have that info but estimating), it will far exceed the price of veggies.

I don't mean for this to turn into carb bashing or diet thread, just saying that I have seen plenty of people around me get rid of diabetes, improve blood pressure without medications and improve their general well-being when they stop eating rubbish. And the change happens within a few weeks!!!

One, maybe two oranges is a glass of orange juice (if you juice them properly). I can easily eat the same number of oranges. In fact fruit in general is very easy to consume in large quantities. Same goes for plenty of vegetables. Plus the whole fibre argument can be shot down by generally consuming juice with food.

No the only problem is consuming too much. Not having a mix of foods. It's not some magical evil sugar to blame.

A friend works in the UKZN biomedical labs and most of the positive cases in their lab are coming from the Durban North Area.
