Not sure why Mila is ranting, it kinda makes sense. Some of those units are in apartment buildings and it'd be putting regular residents at risk admitting travellers.

As opposed to just walking past them on the promenade or in the local grocery shop when they stay in the hotel next door?

I reckon it is just another case of guavamint not having the IQ required to think these things through. AirBnB typically means:
- better social distancing than hotels, less people congregating in a single place
- no hotel staff required to expose themselves constantly to travelers
- and hey Joe Soap can get a bit of financial relief if he's renting out his place, as opposed to a big corporate hotel

if I was an AirBnB host I would just ignore the guavamint and do wtf I wanted once any sort of leisure accommodation is allowed, just don't get caught

Airbnb also means less centralized control.

So our commie overlords looks at something like that and ask themselves who is in control of all the rooms and then they basically shít themselves when they find out it can be individual people.
