There's also the expected peak in the WC this week or next week. We would expect the rise in the number of cases in GP as it approaches its own peak (end of July or in August).

Out of curiosity , How do the know (anticipate) it will peak next week? I am intrigued when I hear this, how do they know? I think we will have to wait till at least early September before we start the downhill journey.....

Using fancy mathematical models but ultimately the proof will be in the pudding as they say:

You can see which province is next by following the death rate .
Eastern Cape then Gauteng
If there are 97000 positive cases the asymptomatic people will be about 10 to one so we are over a million cases by now .
This show is just getting started .
Normal Flu season 6000 to 11000 .

Whatever happens, I'll leave it all to chance
Another COVID case, another failed attempt, on and on
Does anybody know what we are living for?

eNCA anchor Shahan Ramkissoon tests positive for Covid-19

"Today I tested positive for Covid-19. I’m in good health and in self-isolation. I’ll be off air for two weeks and I will overcome this.
‘We live by Faith, not by Sight.’ 2 Corinthians 5," Ramkissoon posted on Facebook.

"Shahan started feeling ill last week and was advised to go for testing on Friday. His results came back on Monday, 22 June 2020.

"He will remain off-air and in self-isolation until the end of the stipulated 14-day period," eNCA said in a statement.

"The eNCA anchor is part of a team based in the channel's Johannesburg office isolation studio that was set up eight weeks ago as part of the broadcaster's disaster management plan.

That is a very good question, to which there is no single simple answer. The models provide some estimates, but fundamentally it is a human behaviour limitation, not a biological limit to the virus. Most of the infections are from super-spreaders, and these have already been exposed early in the epidemic, either through behaviour or occupation (mass gatherings or essential workers). The dynamic of spreading are now different, with masks and other hygiene changes taking effect.

This still doesn't explain what happens afterwards, and I suspect it will be a lot more like a plateau than a peak, with a very long tail period, and not a sudden rise and fall. This virus is not going to go away anytime soon: https://www.bbc.com/news/health-53113785

This international story shows what the numbers in the US look like, which though demographically different, indicates what a long tail looks:

According to an on-screen interview with him, it took two trips to the doctor, with two separate antibiotics prescribed (for flu), before he was recommended for testing

The Eastern Cape is only planning to build a 4000-bed field hospital now? What have they been doing since the shutdown in late March? In the WC, we've already got 3 field hospitals up and running IIRC. I also recall Gauteng opening up one relatively early at Nasrec.

They have been preparing to plan, now they are doing the actual planning.

And when they have finished the planning to prepare they may initiate a lekgotla to discuss their further planning phases towards the idea of possibly maybe planning for the plan.
It would be really funny if it wasn't actually true.
