So my niece had to go for testing today, can take up to 4 days to get her results, so once again the daily updates are pointless, as if the results are up to 4 days or more late?
The annoying thing is, if she is positive we'd all need to get tested as she's been with us. Would need to figure out where it came from though, could be the contractors in and out of the house but generally there was little interaction between her and them and no entry into those rooms they were working on.

Just a litany of incompetence despite Gauteng getting a few months to prepare for the surge than the WC did. It really takes your breath away! (Pun intended)

Usually, one in 10 hospital beds have piped oxygen and doctors report that this number has not been increased even in the three-month lockdown that was implemented to allow for health systems to gear up for the storm, everybody knew was coming. It was a vital step.

At the Nasrec isolation and quarantine site, only eight beds were prepped with piped oxygen out of a total bed capacity of between 400 and 500 beds. That number is being increased as a swat team of voluntary doctors take over the running of the facility.

Hospitals like Groote Schuur in Cape Town ordered a massive tank of liquid oxygen, for example, but Daily Maverick reporting this week has shown that Gauteng hospitals have been caught on the back foot.

Cuban doctors lol

Until now the facility has been headed by a former hospital CEO assisted by three Cuban doctors, two of whom are from the recent cohort brought in to assist from the island nation. The two only speak Spanish which has been difficult.

How difficult is it to buy a sizeable air compressor with some piping and run it through a couple of filters and pressure regulators? In the food industry it's done all the time and you can easily get filters down to nano particles.

It is not about air but oxygen for starters. It is about the dangers of handling oxygen safely etc. But in essence, you are right. It does require a proper supply contractor to install and the foresight to do it though.

My Uncle owns a small store and there are several of his customers coming into the shop enroute to the doctor to get Covid test because they have flu-like symptoms.

Nope but one dude's company shutdown for deep cleaning and his company refused to let him come back to work because he had flu like symptoms and they know all this because this freaking dude told them this while in the store.
