Are any of the other provinces taking much notice though?

Ok, let's not answer that question... :cautious:

Still thinking about the largely positive press that the NASREC site received a few months ago and now we know it's largely only a quarantine site and not a field hospital. As a result, the only field hospital built between the EC and Gauteng is the private sector initiative with money donated by the German government.

I would think so. Doctors in SA are actually good and don't usually function at the same levels of incompetence seen in other spheres of government run services. There's usually large scale collaboration via online meetings etc between different hospitals and specialist all over the country, with regards to things like this.

I love a system that generates definitions such as this example!

What a weird world we now live in.

The New Zealand Health authorities define a "casual contact" as "any person with exposure to the case who does not meet the criteria for a close contact".

The above is like saying anyone who does not have Covid 19 does not have Covid 19. o_O

There is actually a very clear definition. Those who are not close contacts are called casual contacts:
After Winde's announcement this week that he had tested positive, this News24 journalist received a message advising that "you would be considered a casual contact and not a close one, but definitely monitor yourself for symptoms".

The Stormers and other members of the media were also advised that they were casual contacts as a courtesy so that they could monitor themselves for any symptoms, as they had not been in close contact with the premier, as defined above.

For example, Australia's national health authorities advise the following: "A casual contact is someone who has been in the same general area as someone who has tested positive for the coronavirus while infectious.

"You are a casual contact if a) you have had less than 15 minutes face-to-face contact in any setting with a confirmed case in the 24 hours period before the onset of their symptoms; Or b) you have shared a closed space with a confirmed case for less than two hours in the 24-hour period before the onset of their symptoms (but did not breach one metres, and did not have any face-to-face contact time)."

:rolleyes:Useless clowns
But Ramaphosa’s office posted on Facebook and Twitter on Friday evening that leisure stayovers will be permitted, as long as visitors remain in their resident province.

But by Saturday morning the posts were deleted.
Looks like NDZ is at it again!!

Getting seri-assly gautvol as well.

Making plans to move away into some remote place near the coast and go 100% off grid.

Full report attached

Meanwhile here is the latest Rt estimate for WC, courtesy the mediahack website:

Please post the link to the document, rather than the PDF: https://www.samrc.ac.za/sites/default/files/files/2020-07-08/WeeklyDeaths30June2020.pdf

The chart looks hopeful, but the fact that Rt is derived from publicly available test data makes me skeptical. Nobody has been able to convincingly explain why the numbers are coming down in the W-Cape, compared to other provinces.

I post links when I am able to but not when I am using a mobile device with poor connectivity for a file previously revered to on the thread anyway.
