And that reason might have been that they were in close contact with someone who was positive. There should be plenty people out there who have tested positive and didn't feel a thing.
Incorrect.

We screen for symptoms before testing. We therefore only test people who experience some form of symptom. With the overlap between covid and influenza symptoms (or just being hungover) accounting for the negative tests.

I speak in generalities. There are a few exceptions like getting tested for hospital admission or to watch your sprog being born or whatever.

Nope. I tested without screening - but it was for a hospital admission.

I haven't heard of anyone testing positive without even noticing feeling any different. And according to (some) stats that should be happening to the majority of people.

I'm saying because of the wide scale of severity of this virus, they are most likely stretching the definition of asymptomatic to include "very" mild cases. Let's remember that what is considered a "normal" mild case is still the worst flu you've ever had.
What on the whole worse flu you've ever had? Firstly have you ever actually a flu test? If not you've not had the worst flu ever, secondly most people have little to no symptoms. Even if my niece does turn out to have had it, her symptoms were a headache, tight chest and fever.

There are no formal stats showing the numbers of negative tests I suppose we have to subtract to get an idea of what those figures are?

Don't forget that they sometimes test multiple times as well. I know a person who's had 3 tests, all negative.

BS. Maybe today, but it's only recently that they changed their testing policy. A while back they would test you if you came into close contact with a positive.

Do you even have internet? Have you even read any of the first hand accounts out there in the world?

I'm not talking about people's accounts. They obviously would say they were severely sick.

I'm talking about the medical field. They call that a mild case. A severe case is when you go to hospital and a critical case is when you go to the ICU.

Except I'm talking about people who tested positive and recount having very mild, insignificant symptoms. That is a direct contrast to your assertion that a mild case feels like death warmed up.

You've never had the real flu then if you think that a mild case of covid will be like the worst case of the flu you've ever had. A mild case of covid would be same as a mild case of any other virus, it would be mild.

LOL guys. That's what I'm saying, the scale is wide with this virus.

ICU = critical
Hospital = severe
Worst Flu = mild
Like a cold = very mild
No change = asymptomatic

They often wont allow you to take the test unless you have symptoms. The tests are a finite resource after all.

FFS stop saying worst flu, you actually have no bloody clue on what the worst flu feels like. Mild is bloody mild, same as with the flu, because guess what with the flu you can also end up in the hospital and you can also end up dead. The flu isn't a mild little virus, it's the one responsible for 50 million deaths in 1918, 1 million in 1958/59 and 1 million in 1968/69. It's still responsible for a lot of deaths world wide with vaccines. Stop thinking you have any idea on if mild covid is like the worst flu, when the worst flu would actually be you in hospital as well.
Perhaps you're thinking of the common cold, that perhaps you could than say the worst cold.

OK I see your point. Obviously the "worst flu" would kill you.
