I'm confused: you're saying that most of what they do is stupid and then you support their alcohol sales ban, which you support because the ban is said to reduce the strain on a fscked-up public healthcare system. When are they planning on fixing the healthcare system or should they also ban the sale of sugar since all the diabetics adds strain to the healthcare system as well?
Even a broken clock can show the correct time twice a day.

My agreement with the alcohol ban in no way endorses any of their other policies. You're engaging in whataboutism.

As to the sugar story - yeah I'd be quite happy if they banned all hidden sugars/fillers etc from food. High Fructose Corn Syrup is evil. My opinion of course, to which I'm entitled...

Has Government been held to account in a manner which deters the squandering and mismanagement of taxes?
No. Because people prefer not to vote in the false belief that their vote won't make a difference. Those who vote for the current government obviously don't believe government is wasting and mismanaging taxes or they derive a benefit out of the status quo that keeps them going back for more.

The Government stated that their reasons for banning alcohol sales are anecdotal.

Well, they're wrong then aren't they? Evidence of the decreased load on the medical system was posted in this thread earlier.
Typical ANC, even when they get it right they get the reasoning wrong

To me it seems that most of us are more than happy to accept anecdotes, provided it suits us off course, and surrender our rights.

Same with voting, @R13... ?

Wow. So the ingredients and nutrient value list on the packet is not enough? You want to ban sugar altogether? So in your little fascist world eating desert should be a crime? Have you lost the plot?

Sadly in our tyrannical lockdown world under ndz, thats exactly what it should be given all the other illogical regs.

Battling to cope with what, cashing in? If you're in the funeral business, it's Christmas in July.

What do you do when you only have refrigeration space for 50 bodies but suddenly you have 100? Can't be fun...

Many Vaccine companies are saying vaccines are looking good and its promising for year-end.

WHO is saying we must stop being optimistic and this is only going to get worse and carry on for a LONG LONG time. ( I think the exact words are people should not assume 2021 will be any better or something like that)

Who do you believe?

No one. All we can do is protect ourselves as best we can and hope for the best if we should/were/maybe/possibly get this bug.

We have had 5200-odd additional COVID-19 deaths in a population of 57m over the past 4 months. That number, on its own, relates to 0.009% additional refrigeration capacity needed, not 50%.

Besides, since deaths related to alcohol are lower, according to Government's anecdotal numbers, there should be a surplus or refrigeration capacity, no?
