I thought intra-provincial leisure travel was already allowed? Or was it rescinded?
I've been all over the place and even stopped at a roadblock. All the cops were interested in was booze.

Well, of course. They also can't buy legally like us.

They list them as " Gloves(Latex, yellow, household, one-size-fits-all, waterproof)"

So these are not sterile surgical gloves or even medical grade gloves, these are standard yellow household gloves, ie kitchen gloves... Same as these I'm sure: https://www.cashbuildonline.co.za/products/latex-protective-household-gloves
And that is the retail price! The govt should be paying no more than the wholesale price.
But this is what is WRONG with the current system. The tender process and all its committees and spreadsheets and isolated meetings takes place, the tender is approved, the first deliveries take place and then the cheats move in afterwards, BECAUSE management FAILS to continue to monitor and approve future orders. I have seen it over and over again in the years after 1994.
And God help you IF you try and challenge a purchase processed against an approved supplier!
It takes a lot of perserverence to get that right!

The first step to solving a problem is admitting you have one. But the problem has to be fixed properly, the solution is to close the loopholes around tender processes, there are too many of them and without doing that we are going to admit that we have a problem until the end of time.

There is no political will to close the loopholes.

Unfortunately you are right...

They will talk about it, and admit there is a "problem" but I don't actually expect to see any concrete steps being made to resolve the problem, or to hold those who abuse the system to account.

So what's the solution? Because it looks like even the opposition are not interested in pushing for these loopholes to be closed, I can only imagine that they are being careful enough not to shoot themselves in the foot when the chance for them to be in the looting seat comes.

I have long lost hope that tenders can ever be done right, I will admit that not all jobs can be done internally but I would be happy if at least one opposition party could talk directly to the issue, the government at any level can be capacitated enough to do some of the services internally, Mashaba proved that with I sourcing of the City's security guards.

Personality I don't see a solution, that is why all my wealth is invested outside my beloved country :crying:

"We have arrested a lot of people already, if I'm not mistaken, we have [seized] cigarettes of about 1.8 million," Cele said.

GG Cele... in 4 months you have managed to seize around 1 hours worth of south africas cigarette consumption... around 7 million legal boxes were sold daily pre lockdown, meanwhile, murders/gbv etc are all at record highs... but you keep going and looking for them receipts
