Latest numbers: SA will get 1% of early Covax shots – but 10% of all Pfizer doses | Business Insider
Pfizer's Covid-19 vaccine requires ultra-low temperatures, and the global split of vaccines is pointing a disproportionate number of them to South Africa – though the local cold chain logistics are not yet settled.www.businessinsider.co.za
So we are getting 10% of all Pfizer vaccines and don't have the facilities to store and distribute them ?
Actually Covax has somehow deemed SA as suitable for the Pfizer one (not sure how they reached that conclusion) - you'll notice SA is one of three sub-saharan African countries who can actually store this vaccine.
Why? That country is very efficient compared to most it its neighbours and even us.New Zealand and South Korea are part of the Covax scheme. I mean really?!
Quite impressed Rwanda has cold storage facilities for the Pfizer one.
Is that the reason we were stalling?(2) Whether or not the participant had already initiated vaccination: As the intent of this initial roll-out was to allow participants to introduce a vaccine, it was stipulated that Participants that have initiated their COVID vaccination programme as of 29 January will not be included in the first exceptional allocation round for the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine
Those shelves don't don't look like they support 2°C to 8°C?
Still not sure why they showing boxes on the shelves. Random I guess.
Rwanda getting money from Japanese, Koreans and the Chinese. Unlike the ANC their leaders know how to play the geopolitical gameNew Zealand and South Korea are part of the Covax scheme. I mean really?!

I'm still waiting on an actual whole number of total deaths for 2020. Anyone?
That is definitely NOT the way to store anything between 2°C and 8°C!
You have obviously never delivered anything to a state hospital.Just about every restaurant with a walk-in Fridge can get down to - 10 deg C. This issue is not such a big problem everyone thinks.
It's not the gel packs , look how the guy is dressed. That is definitely NOT the way to store anything between 2°C and 8°C!
Those gel packs will hardly keep the temperature within the required range for longer than 20 hours - and that's pushing it.
