Why is the regular flu shot not called a vaccine? Does it differ markedly from what the covid vaccines are?

You're weird, bro.

Influenza vaccines, also known as flu shots or flu jabs, are vaccines that protect against infection by influenza viruses. New versions of the vaccines are developed twice a year, as the influenza virus rapidly changes. Wikipedia

contrary on 'yesterday's news'

Nobody really knows the long-term antibody trends, or even the dose of the vaccine required. It is still early in the pandemic, and ongoing studies will certainly lead to tweaking of variants and boosters.

I guess govt needs to create a show for the plebeian public to admire.
Think blue light brigade.
The show will stop being an issue when they must distribute millions of doses. Then you'll start seeing stock being dumped, etc.

J&J insisting on us using all 80K vaccines before shipping the next batch is interesting, after the AstraZeneca debacle there's obviously very little trust in our government
Makes 100% sense. Force the govt. to get its rollout process sorted out.
Trying to convince us and the supplier (who has much more power than us) that their rollout plan is the right one when it implies only 1 jab per 10 minutes per jabber, is just ludicrous.
At the rate being achieved elsewhere in the world each jabber should be able to achieve 1 jab every 2 minutes.
Assume 150 jabbers, 6-hour shift, 180 jabs x 150 = 27 000 jabs a day, which means they could dispense all 80 000 within 3 days.

Instead, they might achieve 5 400 per day and use up the 80 000 in 15 days. 15 days is very relevant because that is close to how long Covid manifest itself as an infection.

If they go faster they might stave off the third wave. Can't have that. We need to loot.

Where are these vaccine centres anyway?

Knowing government they are going to make people wait in line for 4 hours just to get the vaccine

If you think that is going to be bad, just stick around till people start driving cars, lambchop.

I presume you will not drive or travel in one?
Do I have to put a big laughing face with every joke I make?? You should get out of the medical ward more often. It's not so bad outside!!

Actually I'm very seldom in there.

Indeed, it's not so bad outside.
And yet people whinge and whine about wearing a mask, or a lockdown.
As you say, it's not so bad.
