And still only 368 people in ICU nationally. This is it folks.

Just for reference there were between 400 and 500 people in ICU the entire first half of November when Covid cases were averaging around 300 a day.

So we have about a 70 fold increase in daily cases yet less people in ICU.

Last time we had this many cases was around the 1st of July at which time 2211 people were in the ICU.

So the average time in ICU was 18 days (for the first wave at least) its still some time before the first person who could die of Omicron will die.

It does look optimistic though.

Preliminary reports suggest average hospital stay to be 2.8 days compared to 8.5 days for Delta.

Dunno how that would translate to time in ICU but by simple scaling it would work out to be about 6 days for Omicron.

Latest reports say incubation period for omicron is probably less than 4 days compared to the 7 days for other variants.
