Is that the average global age group distribution or specifically for sa? Sa has a bit of a skewed distribution for teenagers and children per adult couple if you take into account on average how many children there are per family (especially in the lower income groups), and how many families have children in adult positions due to hiv/aids killing the biological mother/father (though they seem to become surrogated by an auntie/uncle/grandparent).

Side note, how much education will the government put into vaccination? I can already see some people thinking "I'll take two to three shots so that I'm super protected in case", then proceed to protest when the physician refuses multiple shots. Which brings another note, are they going to protect the hospitals/clinics from strike action that might burn/destroy the vaccine in storage, because the previous protection worked really well in the past.

It turns out that there about 20 million kids under the age of 18 in SA. Based on what statsa data gleaned from the 2017 census.
So, once again we have caught the vaccine MAC committee in a lie.
All their noise about wanting to achieve "herd immunity" hence the 67% target, is just BS!
First that lot get caught in making false claims about the vaccine manufacturers wanting the govt to pay non refundable deposits even if the vaccine proves ineffective, now this!
Where is the credibility?
I recorded that presentation and watching it again, it looks like a hastely prepared desperate attempt by the govt to try and salvage something after being caught napping and the public now acutely aware that SA botched the issue of getting any vaccines any time soon.
The chairman and Dr Pillay should be dismissed instantly for gross negligence and incompetence.

FYI, no vaccine has been licenced for under 18s. That aspect is something of a conundrum, but likely to be a minor risk.

Planning that commission is going to require an investigation. That will probably take 10 years too. By the time they roll it out those in their 20s now will be over 60. Sadly some of the current ANC zombies might still be prowling about looking for brains.

That would require going back to their original story of letting people get sick. You know the one that involves playing the genetic lottery and some apparently young, healthy people dying.

Given the fearmongering you might have people trying to get vaccinated more than needed. It might also be difficult to explain how this deadly virus is now not deadly enough for someone to be eligible to be vaccinated.

Except my facts are right.
There are based on the last census about 20 million kids in the country below 18.
Next very conveniently, 67% of 60 million comes out as 20 million short.
Then, if you look at the totals of the 3 phases the numbers balance again.
Next nowhere in any of the slides presented does the plan even mention that kids under 18 were excluded from the calcs.
Then to make the whole story look as if is science based they throw in the herd immunity story.
The correct would have been to start with the total estimated population minus the estimated kids under 18, THEN calculate the herd immunity numbers.
No all this is just hide how badly they have and are screwing up negotiations to access vaccinations and how poorly the VAX program as proposed is.

No, not at all. Sure I was much more inclined to give this lot the benefit of the doubt early on than now. My change of stance has nothing to do with my personal fear of contracting Covid.

We will carry on with our own mitigation process and risk management regardless of any rule changes they come up with.
Even if by some miracle we were offered the vaccine tomorrow and my doctor gives me the okay to get it given my previous violent reaction to flu vaccines, I will still carry on as if I was not vaccinated.
