I had a carona case about 1km away from where I live. German tour group brought the infection into the area. They were tested when they arrived, but only got the test results once they were in my part of the world in the eastern cape. The little village I live in is broken into three parts.

First part is the resort area. Bunch of resorts on the beach.
Second part are homes, mostly made up of retired people.
Third part is the informal settlement. Its right next to the retired people.

So the cops came and nabbed this tour group once one of the germans in the tour group tested positive to covid19.

The police arrive with health officials. They closed down the resort side of things.

They did not test the resort staff. They just sent them all home to the informal settlement.

So... the end result. We probably have infections in the informal settlement that will spill over into the retirement side of things. We are not getting ahead of this virus.

I mean come on, is there anyone that thought that it was possible to stop the spread? The strategy is to slow it down

For those with sensitive chests - an idea to keep healthier;
I've suffered from yearly reaction to the start of colder months, usually just Bronchitis but sometimes it went up to triple pneumonia.
Much less so in recent years - I started wearing a jersey etc. even if not that cold. (Also stopped smoking 3 yrs. ago.)

Coronavirus: South Africans stranded on cruise ships in Italy plead for government help

Several South Africans remain stranded on two cruise liners in Italy, which has been hard hit by the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

Leigh Dobblin, 63, from Ballito in KwaZulu-Natal, said they have been stranded on board the Costa Luminosa cruise liner since 24 February.

"We are currently docked at port Savona in Italy and have been confined to our cabins for nine days now and they are no longer telling us anything anymore," she said.

Dobblin indicated that initially they were informed there were 100 South African citizens on board

he said several people have been taken off the ship and transported away in ambulances. She claimed that Costa Cruises, the company which operates the cruise liner, planned on leaving all passengers on the ship in Italy.

No cases yet

Dobblin, who suffers from emphysema, said she has not yet tested for Covid-19.

"Only temperatures are taken every day. I am not on oxygen, but lung meds are finished and blood pressure tabs finished," she added.

Viljoen Human, 62, from the Western Cape, is on board the Costa Pacifica cruise liner, along with 168 other South Africans. The cruise ship, which belongs to the same company, had docked in Genoa, Italy, but has since left for Rome.

And now the domestic workers from that settlement have taken it into Cintsa residents' homes.

This is why the curve cannot be flattened in this country!

Taking a vitamin D supplement as well helps a lot.

Also a daily anti-allergy pill isn't a bad idea. Allergex or something like Allerway can be taken for the whole month. I use it to manage my post-nasal drip which is triggered by my milk allergy.

Pretty worried because it took a few weeks before taste and smell returned.

Loss of taste and smell is actually quite common in sinusitus. Your nasal passages get blocked, and humans don't actually taste a lot of things with our tongues. Smell plays a big part in tasting anything.

It's amazing how we're going back to the old ways of jerseys and keeping our chests warm. I remember my grandmother "cover your chest", "wear a scarf", "where's your jersey, you'll catch your death".

Agree 150% about staying warm. WFH should help with that.

Indications are that it is one of the symptoms of COVID...
Fortunately it's only temporary.

First time it happened that it was completely gone so it was pretty scary. Even ate a whole raw chilli to see if could restart the senses. Only my stomach and butt was affected.
