It's naturally going to fluctuate, also with far too many unknowns at this "early" stage plus the wonky systems here, and where do you get 1% from?
If a personal theory please say that, else sounds like you're conveying some sort of fact. TIA
A lot of experts assume the actual case fatality rate will be around 1% once all the mild and asymptomatic people get added up to the tally in most countries.

This is what happens in a well run DA run municipality;

The pavements, park benches and dustbins in the Stellenbosch CBD got a good wash on Saturday night as the municipality sanitises public spaces during the coronavirus crisis.

Off topic but still. Anyone remember the school medical days? Once a year the government doctors showed up, all kids were examined. Girls in one line boys in another. Two classrooms, door open. A nurse and doctor in each. Thermometer shoved in your mouth, stick shoved down your throaty, sat argh, chest checked thingy poked into you ear, light shone into your eyes, balls grabbed told to cough.
Next.
Doors left open to ensure no funny business went on. Always wondered what the doctor looked at when he peeped into the girls pants.

The faq? no doctor checked down my pants in school. It was the normal face, throat and ears checkup...

Did you do the hearing and eyes tests as well?

No. We had to travel all the way to Potchefstroom for that. A program run by the university. Think it was part of the student medical training course.

The progress of an epidemic is statistically much easier to predict than the lotto numbers. That's how actuaries work with large numbers.
And draw terrible conclusions that impact on millions of lives. Because they also believe the BS they and only they see in the numbers.

I don't think any governments have asked actuaries for advice on the epidemic. In fact quite the opposite IMO (both good and bad sources).

Edit: The above sentence has been completely quoted out of context. Please see below for a clearer explanation.

Yep, we had that once or twice. A couple of unlucky kids were deemed in need of shots or something as well and were then dealt with behind a sheet, which ended in tears. I remember the fear...
