I find viruses fascinating and always have. I absorb the studies, histories and insights from the plethora of information available, thereby developing a healthy sense of what BS looks like in the context of an epidemic.

What's you cunning system?

Interesting that your first reaction is always to attack or find everyones comment a reason to blow up a nuclear bomb. I don't have a cunning system. Sorry to disappoint.

TLDR = No.
I didn't expect one. There are many opinions here that makes it interesting. This user just feels it is their duty to makes sure everyone bends to his/her opinion. As if he/she is a scientific god of sorts.

Wow, 28 new cases in the epicentre of Gauteng. Something is preventing this thing spreading here, and it's sure as hell not government policy or policing.
Yap, doesn't make sense to me. Nothing makes sense to me in SA compared to the hype around the statistics.

They'd still be rocking up at hospital if they were seriously ill. And why so few deaths? GP has 13 mil population.
This is it. Even if they not testing. People would still flood the hospitals.

But there is nothing.

I might be wrong? Are there hospitals that are overwhelmed by severe cases?

Active cases are lower than WC and KZN as well, with higher recoveries and lower deaths.

Reminds me of someone I know who's too similar - just a hard, defensive childhood I would think, maybe he'll calm.

Lol, we are many here with strong opinions. I just don't think going at people like a violent dog is the right approach.

They might be. Government hospitals are usually beyond capacity. Sure I read somewhere they Barra is currently at 120%? Im concerned the data coming out of public hospitals might not be accurate.

Likewise. But it's been too long, surely something would have started standing out as really odd?

It wouldn't surprise me if CHB normally runs at 120%.

The data probably isn't completely accurate, but I can't imagine a sudden surge of dead people with cause of death being attributed to something else.

Hype or no hype, large numbers or small, the fact is that even in disastrous Italy, the total number of cases is 0.3% of population and in even more disastrous US, the total number of cases currently stands at 0.2% of population.

Someone mentioned GP having 13mil population, so to put it in GP perspective, in the height of it, GP would have 26000 cases. That's over 2-3 months.

I look more at the cities that got very badly effected than the whole countries. By the way the media and corona prophets went on I would have expected Gauteng, Durban, Cape Town, PE to be overwhelmed by severe cases by now. I know it is possibly still coming, maybe, but just surprised at the results so far. Her in Zululand people don't really take social distancing very serious, but I doubt we even have a handful of severe cases, to my knowledge anyways. I find it strange.

Makes perfect sense, Flu season only starts in June, that's when ILI deaths spike.

US has home test kits now... hopefully we can get those, not sure on details on how they work(if gives results too or have to ship), but ability to walk in to pharmacy and buy one, test yourself and get result would save our limited labs tons of processing time over flu season

It appears official.

But it was for the UK, not South Africa.
The one I have a copy of even quotes the exact wording in the DMA and the regulations down to the spelling mistakes and par numbers. It was maybe an early draft.
