I won't be able to provide a link as I read it quite some time ago, but there was a medical article stating that it is not the virus itself, that is dangerous, but rather your own immune system over reaction.

It is this overreaction that causes pneumonia, renail failure, heart failure and subsequent death. It also stated that people with flu vaccines are more prone to overreacting as their body is artificially programmed to mount a strong response.

THIS alo correlates with recent news, where smokers are likely suffer less severe outcome due to their immune not reacting as strongly (thanks to nicotine).

Slow and steady response is therefore preferred to a strong accute one. That's why different people react differently.

The cytokine storm only happens in a small percentage of the sick, and being a smoker doesn't affect your immune system positively.

For a greater majority being a smoker means that your lungs can no longer effectively clear fluid out of it, meaning that you're at a greater risk of dying.

Then they can practice their culture from 6 feet under.

Everything else stops for Rona, tradition/culture must as well.

This makes perfect sense to me. It explains why I had such a very bad experience when I had the one and only flu vaccine.
Would really appreciate it if you could find that article again.

I am still looking for the vaccine link, but the above will explain nicely that's its not the virus, but ones immune system response to it

I never said smoking is beneficial for you or your immune system. Only that nicotine might have an effect on the regulation of the immune system response (i.e.keeping it low, therefore indirectly protecting against the severity).

The fact is that scientists are scratching their heads, not knowing why certain individuals respond the way they do.

Yep, more or less, was discussed before - what is believed is that smokers may well have an increased immunity, but once they have it if they are infected they then have a higher reaction risk.

But clinicians around the world are seeing evidence that suggests the virus also may be causing heart inflammation, acute kidney disease, neurological malfunction, blood clots, intestinal damage and liver problems. That development has complicated treatment for the most severe cases of covid-19, the illness caused by the virus, and makes the course of recovery less certain, they said.

The prevalence of these effects is too great to attribute them solely to the "cytokine storm,"

the virus was found in kidney liver and so on , and the blood clots , sugesting it's not the cytokine storm

They also seem to think the country as a whole will willingly accept going back to level 5...

Fy, I'm done staying at home.

Now tell us who will look after the children when parents now go to work.
