TL;DR

Scammers contact customers of tracking device companies, stating they need to come out to repair tracking units.. Once arrived and conducted alleged repairs, they claim a test drive is needed and then drive off with the car..

Something that I never understood is this, you would have to agree that "our" criminals are pretty damn good at being bad. The schemes, planning and resourcefulness (not to mention willing to lay down their lives) that they have shown at being thieves and criminals is truly remarkable. But here's the part i don't get, why is there not even a half percent of these same people(shall we call this the criminal pool of people), that can be as good at actually contributing meaningfully to this country, like inventing products or finding solutions to problems or just making a big positive difference. Are they hard wired to be generally destructive..?

Tracker's said:
“If you are contacted about repairs to your tracking device by someone claiming to be from Tracker, please ask them to take you through the Tracker security verification questions associated with your account in order to verify the legitimacy of the call,” Tracker said.
Who at Tracker came up with that bullshite?

Tracker now wants the customer to ask the criminal which pieces of the customer's personal information the criminal wants, like "What is your ID number?", "What is your xyz?" and only after giving out all their personal information should the customer call Tracker to find out how illegitimate the whole thing was.

Tracker said:
“Always check the email address the request is sent from – this is often an immediate give away as the criminals would not be using a tracker.co.za address,” Tracker said.

Even a 5 year old can setup Outlook or Thunderbird or whatever to spoof an @tracker.co.za email address to make it seem like an email was sent by Tracker.

Really well thought out Tracker, now go buy the TV licence you need for streaming such bad advice out of your arse end.
