MyBroadband has launched the South African Fibre-to-the-Home Survey, where you can win R10,000 in prizes.
  • If you cannot get fibre, but want it, we really want to hear from you
  • If you have fibre, we want to know about your choices
  • If you don’t want fibre, we want to know what connection you are using now
By completing the survey, you can win great prizes, including cash and tech gadgets.
Your feedback is really important to provide an accurate overview of fibre in South Africa – where people want and need fibre, and what fibre services consumers prefer.
have entered the survey and completed the request form for fiber at my home

Fibre is really worth it, ditch the DSL/LTE if you're able to guys and gals.

No more contention, no interruptions or packet-loss and super speed internet all the way.

I live in a house of 6 people and we upgraded from a 4mb DSL line to a 100mb uncapped fibre line, it was really affordable since we split the bill - definitely worth the cost!

PS - we're with cell c and their service is really awesome.

We chose Cell C because of the price and also because of the free installation cost - which is basically R1500 +- free if you stay with them for about 2 years - we've almost been with them for a year and their price is still VERY much competitive against the other ISP's.

Will recommend to others any day.

As a side note, I don't work for Cell C and also don't know anyone working there - there is no affiliate or relation what so ever - in case you're thinking this is a marketing scheme or whatever :)

Some information for small families (read on if you are spending too much on your data):
My wife and I are the only two who constantly use our internet connection.
Sometimes a visitor (or two or more) may connect and use it for a limited time.
We have (I think) the most economical setup for our purposes.
Our usage is:
Netflix streaming (not HD) almost 8 hours a day.
Email and Youtube viewing mostly in the evenings and weekends.
Some other sporadic web browsing from time to time.
Our equipment and service setup is:
One desktop PC connected to a 27 inch TV, one laptop, two cell phones.
All four devices are permanently connected via WIFI.
Copper ADSL (2Mbit/s) with land line telephone service.
ISP is Telkom Internet with 20Gb "Softcap" and 100Gb "Do Movies".
With persistence and patience you CAN get Telkom to make it work properly.
There is fibre line to our house and we have been offered fibre services.
Why do I "need" fibre? No one has adequately answered this question.
