South African film producer threatens to lay charges against intern who uploaded movie to YouTube

Nice, how can I pay to watch this movie?

Pirating isn't stealing..

Something about not depriving the OP of the original..

Correct. It is not stealing. He can, however, in terms of the Copyright Act, go after the person who uploaded the video to Youtube and thereby distributed it. Unfortunately, he has no recourse against any person watching it online or downloading it.

South African filmmaker threatens movie pirate with police

A South African film producer has come out guns blazing against the pirating of locally-made movies.

Afrikaans film producer Cobus van den Berg recently spoke to the Huisgenoot magazine about how many of his works have been shared and watched on online platforms like YouTube.

Can't say I disagree. Originally tried to get into the film industry myself and while I still sail the high seas from time to time I have never done it with local stuff. The local industry is brutal and people need to get paid.

Heck, even with international stuff during COVID I would buy tickets for a film and then find a way to watch it at home rather than risking getting sick. At least now I'm feeling comfortable enough to go back to the cinema once in a while.

I dont even know who this guy is.
What a joke. His stuff is being promoted for free and he jumps and wants to start shooting people.
Nah I think his crap can fade into oblivion like deserved.

You know the World is completely mad when People think it's OK to steal (pirate) but then cry the loudest when something they work for gets taken away.
