South African insurers warning of faulty equipment in household solar installations

And we see this warning when Eskom wants to hit solar users as hard as t hey legally can.

The big brain move is to consider Namibia. Namibia has a lot of problems of their own but Eskom solar regulation isn't one of them, there is NEEEF but it is at 25% ownership as far as I can tell and that is a far cry from the requirements here.

Namibia does not appear to impose fines on solar users directly through tariff increases. Instead, tariff adjustments in the country are generally applied across the board to all electricity consumers, not specifically targeting solar users.

For solar users, particularly those with grid-tied systems, Namibia has a net metering policy in place since May 15, 2017. This allows solar households or businesses with systems under 500 kW to feed excess electricity back into the grid and receive credits or discounts on their bills.

It is why I am looking at moving. I mean why the hell do I want to live in a country that wants to rob me blind and push my head in a toilet for trying to keep the bloody lights on.

Ar

Are they also saying no to my solar geyser?
That is the big question, it is my understanding if it doesn't generate power they can't touch it. but then you are looking at a Evacuated Tube Solar Geyser. It still needs a COC as most solar geysers still need a electrical hookup for when the sun doesn't do its job.

But I can be totally wrong

Yeah luckily I do have the COC filed. It's a good thing at the time I asked for it, because the installer didn't give it to me out of his own.

I have become increasingly critical and cynical of any installer due to past experiences and how they try to bullschit, but I'll write this one off as him simply forgetting, because I got it minutes later via email. LOL

Yea but I think MyBB can actually just spell out the laws for everyone when it comes to Evacuated Tube Solar Geysers because I can see how Eskom will twist this.

A water geyser is the heaviest load you have on your power and if you offset it with evacuated tube solar geyser it essentially does same as an electrical solar system. So my guess is Eskom is planning another violent enema for South Africans with evacuated tube solar geysers.

They can argue that it places unwanted pressure on the grid as it will use electrical power if the sun doesn't shine and everyone knows it is not enough to BUY THE UNITS and USE THEM!!!!! No, Eskom demands more money for every little thing because they are in deep trouble and they think that taxing the few solar users there is will solve it. I got news for them but they will not bother to listen.

They can argue its not using their electricity (as per advice, use it sparingly LOL), and now they're missing out on profit.

Just like COCT and the water crisis. Use it sparingly. Whoops, not making much money. Boom. Pipe levy and increases.

If they want to, they will find away because the reality is Eskom has far to much legal power and they are more then willing to cripple our country buy demanding tariff increases that goes beyond the scope of reality. So their intentions are clear it is not about the power grid it is bout milking every cow for as much as possible.

Eskom can get fkd with all their attempts at solar tax

Not gonna happen

So in my case, I'd be curious what happens when:
1. I informed my insurer of my installation, and what they require to insure.
2. They responded they require the quotes, and a CoC. Provided, accepted, and house insurance updated with new premium. There was no requirement from Eskom at the time of installation. (I also have an email to Eskom which went unanswered. It'll probably go unanswered if I send it again).
3. House burns down.
4. Insurer now claims the system had some installation issue.

You're going to gave to pull the stunt like that guy who dumped the body of a dead relative on the front door of Old Mutual.

But you're probably have to take kek instead of dropping a body.

Interesting you mention this as we were discussing the matter in my office yesterday with a chap in Nature. The entire Namibia's power consumption is tiny.... around 660MW. With 40 to 70 % being imported.

However,

NAMPOWER, (Our Eskom) , just opened a new small power station of around 54 mW. And another smaller solar station of 81 MW being built at Arandis, at Rosh Pinah another large solar installation is going up and the new turbine blades have arrived in Luderitz for the park there.

But my mate was saying that the environmental study has been done for a 300mw Wind Farm 40km North of my town and I know of two other solar projects happening in Northern Nam....

Point I am trying to make is the fact that NAMPOWER and IP's are steaming full speed ahead to make this country independent of external power within the next four years.

Just outside my town, a joint ESKOM and NAMPOWER is in progress of building a new HT Line from the Northern Cape into SOuthern NAm.

IN my town itself, a lot of people have started to put up Solar, a lot less restrictions than in SA>

Namibia is not a bad place to be right now, considering how crazy the world out there is becoming..
