I don't understand this company.
Like their customer service is the worst of any company in South Africa.
Hands down.

If you have any problem, they will find every way to not solve it.
And then find a way to make it as if they solved it and did you a favour.

Basically, it's proof that these rankings are LOL

From all of us at Afrihost: A huge thank you to all of our clients who trust us with their internet.

We’ll never take you for granted.

We’ve had our ups and downs over the last 20 years - But no matter where we find ourself in the rankings I promise you we’re always trying to improve in everything we do.

Hopefully this time next year we’re in the number 1 spot.

P.S. Well done to Cool Ideas!

Got to agree with the ratings. Using Cool Ideas (Fibre) at home and never had any issues with them so far. I'm now visiting my sister and unfortunately no Fibre here at all, so had to dust off the old Rain sim card and wow, they really did go downhill. Never really had any issues with them back in the day either, DL / UL speeds was good, but now can't even get passed 500KB/sec on my downloads. I'm on the 24/7 uncapped and noticed a huge speed drop especially after 6pm. Nearest tower to me is 0.35KM.

Can't wait to get back home :)

I honestly don't know. Haven't used them in probably over a year since I switched over to Fibre. Back then when I was on the 19hrs uncapped plan I got very good speeds.... and support.

I'm sorry you feel this way. We don't always get it right but we do try our best to give the best service. I'm sorry that we have let you down recently or in the past and I hope we can make it up to you.

So, according to the article and list, although not expressly stated, Rain is a loser? Seems to fit some of the comments in threads posted. The real question is whether Rain cares.
Rain is k@k. Just came here to post this. Even if you miraculously get a speedtest to hit 200mbps as promised, EVERYTHING is throttled to ****. Video at 3-4 mbps, http downloads MAX at 30mbps. Torrents are obviously shaped. What does a speedtest help if your average real world speeds are more than likely averaging at less than 10mbps, but paying for a PREMIUM 200mbps service.
I am 0.2km from my tower, which according to Rain isnt even at 50% capacity. My signal stats are excellent. On 5G premium. Unfortunately I do not have any other internet options available where I am.
If you can, avoid without a doubt.

Not entire true, they have solved every problem I've had since I started with them 2018. And I've seen reps here getting their hands dirty solving client's problems. Every company will drop the ball now and again, but their service I can assure you that isn't the worst of any company in SA...

These guys messed me around for like four years with a problem I could have probably solved by learning programming from scratch, putting in a very simple piece of code, and then let it be.

Instead I would have to explain the issue to consultants every single time. They would refuse to escalate it even though they would admit that that consultant had no way of solving the issue using their script.

I’m still waiting for it to be solved.

The bug almost got me killed as well. But alas they don’t feel like ever fixing it.

And then you get crap like this

I mean this is a customer care person following a script to make it appear they’re doing something but not giving a damn about actually fixing the problem.

I have convinced maybe 20 people not to sign up with Afrihost. Will continue this until they care. Which will probably be never.

Morning,

Not at all. I don't follow any scripts. Most Mybroadband forum members actually know my personal forum nick. I get excited in the morning when I wake up to do my best to get clients sorted out. It's actually a very fun and rewarding job. I love all things networking so I give it my all.

I know Afrihost doesn't always get it right and we own our mistakes when we make them. I wish I can post here and say we are perfect but that won't be truthful at all. The goal is to make as few mistakes as possible and do right by our clients.

You have four years worth of archives with my problem. I trust you will come back with a solution.
