South African IT salaries in 2018 – How much people really get paid

MyBroadband’s 2018 IT Salary Survey results reveal that IT professionals in South Africa earn relatively high salaries, especially senior employees.

The survey was conducted in September and was completed by 2,695 respondents.

To ensure an accurate reflection of how much IT professionals and executives earn, various filters were applied to eliminate entries which were unlikely to be a true reflection of local salaries.

I am a person who introduces high- and scarce-skilled IT experts to companies, sometimes in permanent roles, sometimes on contract basis. I've just closed 3 deals where the senior was offered in excess of 1.6 million rands a year. So I find the upper caps for experts a little low, to be honest.

If I may ask, what Tech/Language was the R1.6m person using (.net/java/etc)?

Hmm, at the senior level usually multiple languages, examples of recently finalised senior roles:
- Integration Architect
-Solutions Architect (s)(Functional as well as technical)
- Analytics Specialist

Ahh.. make sense.
